On a motorcycle in the Silesian Beskid – a route through the Cieszyn, Kubalonka Pass, Istebna, Koniaków and Żywiec

One of the most beautiful motorcycle routes in the Beskids – the Kubalonka Pass, Istebna, Koniaków, and Żywiec. Full of soothing, amazing landscapes, gentle hills of the Beskid, bustling forests and fields, towns stuck to the road, which have not yet been touched by modernity. A real land of gentleness. See our route on a motorcycle in the Silesian Beskid – experience it yourself, and then pass it on, because of #SilesianIsBeautiful.

By motorcycle in the Silesian Beskid – first stop – Cieszyn

In the afternoon we started our trip from Katowice in the direction of Cieszyn, one of the oldest cities in Silesia. According to legend, three brothers Bolko, Leszko, and Cieszko, the sons of the Czech prince Lech, rejoicing in their meeting at the local water spring, decided to build a castle next to it. Since then, Cieszyn has been standing until today and truly pleased us. Although we have heard only good things about Cieszyn, we have always visited it by only passing through, on the occasion of trips in the Beskids, or to our southern neighbors. This time we wanted to find some time to walk around the town square, take some pictures in the nearby streets, hang around the town.

In Cieszyn, we felt as if we had moved to Vienna for a while. A dignified, elegant city, only in a more intimate, pleasant and homely version. Not as rigid and tightly framed as Vienna has always seemed to us. After just a few minutes we knew that we would visit the amazing Cieszyn once again for a longer time because it deserves to discover all its hidden secrets. All the delicacies and views. And this time our goal was only to visit the Castle’s Brewery at night, within the framework of Industriada, about which we wrote earlier here. A place that, like the whole Cieszyn, simply pleases.

On a motorcycle in the Silesian Beskid – second stop – Kubalonka Pass

We spent the night in Cieszyn, and in the morning we set off in the direction of Żywiec and the next brewery. However, not the shortest road, but a beautiful route going around the Silesian Beskid Landscape Park from the west and south. The quality of the roads was sometimes, well, tragic, but these inconveniences compensated us for the passing landscapes. The beautiful, unnaturally green forests of the Beskid Mountains, smelling of resin and freshness of the early south. We stopped for a short stop on the Kubalonka Pass and here we could not resist the temptation to deviate slightly from the chosen road and look at Lake Czerniańskie with a view of the Residence of the President of the Republic of Poland and the Wisła Czarne dam. Especially since the turns were very good, although the surface leaves a lot to be desired.

On a motorcycle in the Silesian Beskid – third stop – Istebna and Koniaków

By narrow roads, we reached Istebna, which together with Koniakow is famous mainly for the most beautiful lace in Europe. In Karczma Ochodzita we stopped for coffee and cake, where the beautiful views stretching from the restaurant terraces are a definite plus of this place. Apparently, with good visibility, you can also admire the Tatra Mountains. We were planning to see also the Lace Museum in Koniakow, but this time the time has won, we moved on to make it before 2 PM to visit the brewery in Żywiec.

On a motorcycle in the Silesian Beskid – fourth stop – Żywiec

Around noon we reached the Brewery Museum in Żywiec. We have written about the brewery before, you can find the article here. We were planning to visit the town square in Żywiec, come to the park, stop by Żywiec Lake and Żar Mountain, but unfortunately, the weather chased us home. It was falling apart for good until the very evening and, wet, we returned home. And so it happens – life it’s not always pink.
